Elegua Afro-Cuban series. The most danced Orisha in the Afro-cuban Yoruba dances. If you've done a Salsa shines workshop, you've probably already done Elegua steps before.
Elegua is the opener of ways, and as a foundational Orisha, all prayers must go through him before reaching other Orishas. His dance has many rhythms, including the unique La Lumbanche rhythm that is only danced by Elegua. Other Elegua rhythms that will be taught include La Topa, Nyongo & Chachalokafun. Many of the steps in these rhythms feature heavily in modern Salsa shines, taking the unique name of "Afro-Mambo".
This series from April to June further explores Elegua's lore, steps, body movement & rhythms w/ none other than professor of traditional Cuban dance @Sarita Leyva.
